Jupiter is a coastal town in northern Palm Beach County, Florida, located about 20 miles north of West Palm Beach along the Atlantic Ocean. The 2020 census counted 61,047 permanent residents, with a larger seasonal population drawn to the area during the winter months. Jupiter's identity is inseparable from the water: the town fronts the Atlantic, and the Jupiter Inlet connects the ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Loxahatchee River, one of Florida's most celebrated waterways. The town's maritime heritage is symbolized by the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse, a red-brick landmark completed in 1860 and now part of an Outstanding Natural Area that preserves native scrub habitat and archaeological sites. The School District of Palm Beach County serves local students through schools such as Jupiter Community High School and Jupiter Elementary. For transportation, Jupiter sits at the northern end of Palm Beach County's I-95 corridor, with access via Indiantown Road and Donald Ross Road, and Florida's Turnpike provides an alternate route south. Tri-Rail commuter rail links the region's cities, and Palm Beach International Airport lies roughly 20 to 25 minutes away.
